Texas A&M University Poultry Science Department recognizes Cal-Maine Foods as an “Outstanding Supporter” at their Annual Awards Banquet

At the presentation, Texas A&M offered the following comments:

“Cal-Maine Foods has provided numerous experiential learning opportunities for students in the Poultry Science department and offered both internships and full-time opportunities to our graduates. Cal-Maine Foods is the largest producer and distributor of fresh shell eggs in the United States, and they are committed to offering their customers a wide range of quality egg and egg products. We are greatly appreciative of the relationship we have with Cal-Maine Foods and the numerous friends and former students we have within the company who support our department.

Matt Whiteman, Vice President of Operations at Cal-Maine Foods, is a familiar face around our program. Matt is a member of our newly formed Advisory Board and is a featured speaker to educate our students about career opportunities. He has also facilitated one of the major projects for our graduating seniors in our capstone course.

Colby Bond, a 2009 graduate, is now General Manager of the Cal-Maine Foods operations located in Marion, Texas., Colby also gives back to Texas A&M through his support of our department as a speaker each semester in our Poultry Science Professional Development course. He also hosts mock interviews and ‘meet and greet’ sessions every semester for students to learn about career opportunities with Cal-Maine Foods. Colby is always willing to work with students who want to join the industry and gets to know them on a personal basis to help them with professional career growth.

This year alone, Cal-Maine has hired three of our graduates for full-time positions and will be hosting seven students for internships this summer, which is the most of any employer this year.”
